Applications are invited for the below academic posts in the
Department of Sociology to commence 1 September, 2000:

One permanent Assistant/College Lecturer
One 3 year  Assistant/College Lecturer
One 1 year Assistant/Lecturer


Candidates for the permanent appointment should ideally have
special expertise in the sociology of health and illness.

Candidates for one of the temporary positions should have an
interest in quantitative methods.  Applications from candidates
in any field of sociology will, however, be welcome.  The
appointment to the permanent post and to the 3 year post will be
made at the level of Assistant Lecturer or College Lecturer.

For appointment at the level of College Lecturer, applicants
must hold the degree of PhD and have recent publications.

For appointment at the level of Assistant Lecturer, applicants
should have, or be demonstrably near completing, the PhD.

Closing date: not later than 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 20 April 2000
