International Conference
Women and Society in the Middle East
May 22 - 25, 2000
Emek Yezreel, Israel and Beit Hanina, Palestine

This joint conference of Emek Yezreel College (Emek Yezreel,
Israel) and Al-Quds University (Beit Hanina, Palestine) is
dedicated to studying women's issues in the context of the
Middle East.

Call for papers for the following proposed subjects:
*Women studies in multi-cultural contexts
*Women's resistance movements in the Middle East
*Women and social change in the Middle Eastern Context
 (education, employment, globalization, etc.)
*Women's integration in businesses and in the economy
*Women and politics
*Women and political involvement in the Middle East 
*Women and religiosity in the Middle East
*Culture and violence against women in the Middle East
*Women and Mental Health in the Middle East 
*Round table discussions on urgent issue(s) regarding women's
 agenda in the Middle East

Researchers, teachers in Women Studies departments, political
and social women leaders, grass roots women activists from
Israel and the Middle East are invited to take part in this
conference.  Send your abstract, additional suggestions for
topics, and questions no later than March 30, 2000 to the  WSME
Conference Organizing Committee:
